"Endings" by Dany Szelsky
The ink spills over the torn page,
the words stained across my face.
There’s no remembrance of a caress,
only the knife carving deep its grave.
I gasp for air
but only pain I swallow.
The shadows wave beside me;
my heart beating to their rhythm.
The memories of years past
were but the flicker of a candle
that has extinguished its flame,
leaving only ashes.
